New Attractions Open at Zoo Boise

5/1/2010

Visitors to Zoo Boise will now be able to fee Joseph and Julius, the zoo's friendly and hungry giraffes, at the new Perkins Coie Giraffe Encounter.  Starting May 1, up to 50 visitors will be able to feed special biscuits to the giraffes from 10:15 - 11:00 am daily (weather permitting).  The cost is $3 per person.

Also opening on May 1, is the Conservation Cruise.  2 solar-powered boats, provided by Treasure Valley Solar, will ferry visitors across the zoo lagoon to the new mangabey monkey exhibit and will then leave them at the entrance of the African Plains Exhibit.  The Conservation Cruise costs $1 per person and will run through September.

Funds raised from both activities will benefit the Zoo Boise Conservation Fund. In response to the growing extinction crisis that threatens animals around the world, Zoo Boise is expanding its focus beyond caring for the animals within zoo grounds to animals in their natural environments.
